Senior Automation Engineer
Automation Engineer III is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining automation tooling that permit a deployment of Cloud solutions within hours. The end goal for this team is to automate deployments to such a degree that permit the engineering teams to perform push button deployments to stand up and tear down environments as required.

They will also create, and maintain, all documentation needed to assure a high level of support for the tooling.

This specific role will work closely with the engineering and specialist network, storage and systems teams to ensure a smooth delivery of automation tooling into production. This position requires a very strong devops mindset.

Critical Skills:

  • At least 3 years of working with n-tier SOA applications in Java or Python in an enterprise IT, service provider, or telco environment.
  • Strong Linux system administration experience, preferably RHEL 5.x or 6.x
  • Hands on experience including, but not limited to:
  1. Excellent ability to script in python and shell. Perl or Ruby are also beneficial
  2. Extensive experience in systems, storage and network automation, kickstart, cobbler.
  3. AWS experience using EC2, RDS and ELB.
  4. A high level of knowledge of Java, Java based APIs, Apache Tomcat, J2EE
  5. Familiarity with maintaining long-lived APIs (XML,JSON)
  6. Experience in monitoring, reporting and alerting using industry leading tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Keynote, Argent, etc.). Splunk also beneficial.
  • Ability to design for scalability and resilience.
  • Strong application process flow and problem solving techniques.


Desired Skills:

  • Experience of delivering software services in a cloud environment
  • Experience of continuous delivery process and practice
  • Experience of working in an agile (Scrum) environment.
  • Experience with Hadoop, Cassandra, and zookeeper.
  • Knowledge of Web 2.0 software infrastructure (to include internet scale platforms)
  • Delivering applications using Oracle, MySQL and NoSQL technologies
