Vitalograph is one of the world-leading manufacturers of medical Spirometers, used in the diagnosis of respiratory disorders, and advanced high-reliability software systems used in clinical drug trials. Based in Ennis, Co. Clare for over forty years, we now wish to recruit the following:

Senior Embedded Engineer

Reporting to the R&D Manager, the position will work within an interdisciplinary R&D team in the development of medical devices. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of embedded applications across multiple platforms and architectures. The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and be quick to learn new technologies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering
  • 5 years+ experience in real-time software development using C/++
  • Experience of using structured design methodologies such as UML
  • The ability to support and lead less experienced engineers
  • Ability to provide guidance in the planning, organisation and prioritisation of work in a small team/project
  • Strong C/C++ skills and software design for multi-threading and multi-processor application
  • Strong Object Oriented design skills
  • Strong knowledge in the embedded User Interface design and display device control such as LCD
  • Strong knowledge in hardware-software interface and network communication e.g. sockets
  • Strong knowledge of Operating Systems and concepts, such as Linux
  • Familiar with the microcontrollers and microprocessors such as ARM Application and Cortex architecture
  • Knowledge in JTAG debugging and error handling
  • Knowledge of source code control e.g. GIT, TFS
  • Experience of working in a collaborative engineering environment
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Knowledge in C# .NET Winforms and/or ASP.NET and associated frameworks
  • Experience with SQL Server and SQL Server Express
  • Experience in the development of software within a regulated environment
  • Experience in cross-platform development of debug & test applications
  • Experience in sensor integration & analysis for embedded driver development
  • Knowing one or more of the Development IDEs such as IAR, Keil, Eclipse, and/or Visual Studio
  • Knowledge in Wi-Fi connectivity and security
  • Familiar with Configuration Management and Issue Tracking systems
