Software QA Team Lead/Manager

Temporary Position - 8/12 Month Contract


Vitalograph is one of the world-leading manufacturers of medical Spirometers, used in the diagnosis of respiratory disorders, and advanced high-reliability software systems used in clinical drug trials. Based in Ennis, Co. Clare for over thirty-five years, we now wish to recruit a Software Quality Assurance Team Leader/Manager to join our existing R&D team.

Software QA Team Leader/Manager

Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager the Software QA Team Leader/Manager will be responsible for driving quality across both test and development teams. The candidate in this role will possess excellent knowledge of software quality principals, methods and tools and drive process improvement within the QA function.

Responsibilities

  • Providing line management, guidance, training and mentoring to the software QA team with the aim of improving skill sets
  • Performing appraisals and defining personal development objectives and plans with all team members
  • Creating, tracking and delivering QA schedules for software and firmware projects
  • Interacting with the Engineering and Software Engineering Managers to co-ordinate test efforts in line with product schedules
  • Contribution to and review of V&V reports, test strategies, scripts, summaries and traceability matrices
  • Delivering continuous improvement initiatives for system test methodology, processes and tools
  • Performing testing on applications web based and portable devices
  • Providing team guidance with respect to functional and non-functional testing
  • Gathering and reporting software quality progress and metrics to the senior management team, per business needs


Minimum Requirements:

  • A degree in a software engineering or related discipline
  • Understanding of different software application life-cycle models
  • Proven ability to manage projects from a QA perspective and deliver on-schedule
  • Excellent knowledge of software testing methods and techniques
  • Experience in the development and execution of test strategies, test plans, test cases, test reports and traceability matrices
  • Experience defining, gathering and reporting QA metrics
  • Ability to drive process improvements within the QA function
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills



The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Professional QA qualification or certification e.g. ISEB, ISTQB
  • Experience with ALM and/or QA tools
  • QA experience across a range of software applications including embedded, desktop, web and mobile applications
  • Experience in medical device industry or other GxP environment
